Home Again... Dallas in Bloom
“There is nothing half so pleasant as coming home again.” - Margaret Elizabeth Sangster
It’s been a whirlwind week and a half. I feel as if I only have a moment to check in before I’m off again. Morocco is in my rear-view mirror and California is coming into view just over the horizon.
But Dallas is in bloom, and I don’t want to miss it.
Spring has arrived and before we know it, it will be replaced by triple-digit summer temperatures. So let’s take a moment to revel in the beauty that spring has brought to our fair city:

When one thinks of Dallas in bloom, one can’t help but think of the Dallas Arboretum. It is so stunning in spring. I love the image above: its bold pink tulips, varying shades of green, and the paper-like blossoms of the cherry trees. Or in the case below, Taiwanese Pear trees…

Next month, the Arboretum will launch a very special exhibit of Dale Chihuly glass sculptures, displayed throughout the gardens. Cole and I are attending the gala launching the exhibit on May 4. We are so excited to see the works of this seminal artist in such a beautiful setting. I’m particularly interested to see the pieces lit at night. I’m sure they will be incredible.

The installation above is one Mr. Chihuly assembled for the Fairchild Tropical Garden in Miami, Florida. Perhaps this is something along the lines of what we might see in Dallas.

Also from the Fairchild exhibit, this boat full of twisting ribbons and bon bons of richly hued glass seems like it might be lit from beneath. That would be very exciting to see.
Dallas is abloom with both flowers and art.
Happy spring!
